PC Port Cable for Celestron Scopes
A cable can be connected from the serial port of a computer to the PC Port on the base of the GPS, CPC and CGE telescopes.
The
same cable can be used for AS-GT, CGEM, for NexStar 5i/8i, for NexStar
SE and for NexStar SLT with an optional Auxiliary Port Accessory Kit.
The
two uses of this connection would be to run for NexRemote without the
use of the real hand control and to update the motor control firmware in
the mount.

for your scope.
The PC port on the base of the scope is a standard RJ-45.
The following is the end of the cable that plugs into the PC port on the scope.
Insure that the leads indicated connect to the correct pins on the DB-9 serial port connector shown below.

The FT231X is a USB to full handshake serial UART interface device which simplifies USB implementations
and reduces external component count by fully integrating an MTP memory, and an integrated clock
circuit which requires no external crystal. It has been designed to operate efficiently with USB host
controllers by using as little bandwidth as possible when compared to the total USB bandwidth available.

The FT231X is a USB to serial UART interface
with full modem control and the following
advanced features:
 Single chip USB to asynchronous serial data
transfer interface.
 Entire USB protocol handled on the chip. No
USB specific firmware programming required.
 Fully integrated 2048 byte multi-timeprogrammable (MTP) memory, storing device
descriptors and CBUS I/O configuration.
 Fully integrated clock generation with no
external crystal required plus optional clock
output selection enabling a glue-less interface
to external MCU or FPGA.
 Data transfer rates from 300 baud to 3 Mbaud
(RS422, RS485, and RS232) at TTL levels.
 512 byte receive buffer and 512 byte transmit
buffer utilising buffer smoothing technology to
allow for high data throughput.
 FTDI’s royalty-free Virtual Com Port (VCP)
and Direct (D2XX) drivers eliminate the
requirement for USB driver development in
most cases.

 UART interface support for 7 or 8 data bits, 1
